NOTE to users of ThumbCam. Staff at Security Store have found a slight error in the instruction manual provided with the ThumbCam for setting the time. We have found the answer and have detailed it below.
Correction to instructions for setting the time:
Create a text file (e.g. on XP, right click on desktop, choose File -> New -> Text document*) called tag.txt containing the following and ONLY the following information between the lines following (but not including the lines) replacing the _ characters with spaces:
-------------------------
[date]_
YYYY/MM/DD_
HH:MM:SS
-------------------------
Where YYYY is the year, MM is the month, HH is the hours etc.
EXAMPLE:
[date]
2010/12/24
12:35:20
The instruction manual says there should be a space after the HH and MM. This is incorrect. Do not leave spaces inbetween these or the time will be wrong.
Place this file in the "root" of the drive, so you will see the folder DCIM (this contains the digital images) and the tag.txt file*.
Power down the device and turn it on again.
The time in the tag.txt file will be activated at the moment you power on the device.
All being well, the file will be "absorbed" and the data entered.
You will need to do this again if the device is completely drained of power.
*Please note that your computer may be set to "hide extensions for known file types", so if you create a text file and you do not see the ".txt" extension at the end of the filename, just name the file "tag" as the ".txt" will be there automatically but hidden.
