If you are buying a "Network Enabled" DVR (or already have one from us) and wish to set it up for "Remote Viewing" (e.g. the viewing of your CCTV system via a laptop over the Internet, or a compatible smartphone such as iPhones, Android phones or Blackberrys) but don't have the technical confidence to set it up yourself, we can help!

To get the devices properly configured,
You will need:

A PC connected to the same network that your DVR is/will be on (e.g. your wireless/wired home router) so we can log in and tweak your set-up (opening a path through the router's firewall to the DVR, known as "port-forwarding").

A little time to talk with us on the phone as we help you with your set-up. |

If you already have your DVR you may need to manually configure the network settings so please ensure that it is already connected to your router, and to a monitor so we can help you change the settings on the menu screens. |

If you are buying a DVR from us we can log in to your PC with you to get the settings we need to configure the DVR before we send it out to you. |

|
A "Static" IP address is preferable. If you are unsure what this is you probably don't have one. We may still be able to help even if you don't have one, but this may delay the set-up completion (as sometimes "Dynamic DNS" set-ups take a little while to filter through the Internet). |
Please feel free to call us to book in a time convenient for you. You will need to be by your PC at the appointed time. We will log in to your computer while on the phone to you. Please note that you will have to "accept" our remote log-in to your PC, and we will not install anything onto your computer permanently that will give us access. (We may install the relevant DVR control software onto your PC if you request it). While on the phone we will configure your router and assist you in configuring the DVR (until we can log into it via your PC).
If we cannot get your DVR set up for remote viewing successfully* we will issue a refund on your support call cost.

*Definition of successful set-up means a DVR connected onto your home network with the ability to log-in to the DVR from outside the network from a PC. While most networkable DVRs support other devices such as smartphones, we cannot guarantee successful connections from all devices as this is dependent on mobile phone data signal strength, software support etc. although we will endeavour to assist in connecting these devices where possible. A successful PC connection from outside your network will mean that all configuration options are correct and these settings, when used on compatible mobile devices with the correct software installed, should work without issues. Please note that software and DVRs are not cross-compatible, e.g. Swann remote viewing software will not work on AVTech machines. Offer only applies to DVRs that we supply or have supplied, and is not applicable to DVRs that we are unfamiliar with. Remote connection to your PC is a one-time connection and requires real-time acceptance from the "client" (you) at the time, and therefore cannot be used to access your PC without your permission, and installs no permanent software. Remote viewing live set-up is available from 10am - 3pm Monday to Friday; please call if you wish to book in analternative time but note that there will be an extra charge for set-ups out of office hours. Please note that some Internet Service Providers block remote connection requests and remote viewing on these types of connection may not be possible.
